Description:

McGuff Compounding Pharmacy Services, Inc. is recruiting for a Pharmacy Technician to assist compounding sterile injectables and non-sterile preparations.

A California Pharmacy Technician license is required.

Graduation from an ASHP Accredited Pharmacy Technician School is highly desirable.

Experience compounding sterile injectables is highly desirable.

Good communication skills are essential.

McGuff is accredited by the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB), and is ISO 9001-2008 certified.

We have been established for over 35 years and have experienced substantial growth over the past 5 years. We are looking for a highly motivated and friendly individual to join our compounding pharmacy team.

Job Description:

The Pharmacy Technician / Customer Service Representative will provide quality customer service to patients and health care providers in a friendly and professional manner. He/she will assist the pharmacist to process and prepare prescription medications in the Customer Service area and/or in the Prescription Dispensing area.

Duties include answering incoming customer telephone calls, making outbound telephone calls to patients and health care providers, request and receive prescription refills, accurately and efficiently process prescription orders including entering patient and prescription order information into our pharmacy system, assist walk-in customers, fill prescription orders for dispensing, print patient invoices and labels for dispensing and apply patient labels to medications for dispensing. The technician will manage inventory in the dispensing room.

Professional Requirements:
  • Must be customer service and detailed oriented.
  • Computer experience and accurate data entry skills.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed work team environment and function effectively in a high-volume, multiple demand environments.
  • Ability to manage assigned workload within deadlines.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Knowledgeable MS Office Suite.
  • Have excellent office skills including answering telephone call and filing.
Personal Requirements:
  • Highly motivated, organized, strong work ethics, attention to detail and able to work effectively with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent typing and communication skills.
  • Good organizational abilities, oral communications and interpersonal skills to effectively work with other co-workers.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities while producing high quality work within deadlines Proven ability to solve problems independently, effectively self prioritize goals/tasks, and maintain focus in a fast changing, multi-faceted environment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Obtain a high school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy terminology.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Work experience in a compounding pharmacy.
  • Valid Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Work experience in customer service.
  • Knowledge in MAS200 accounting software a plus.
Special Conditions
  • Must be able to work various hours based on business needs.
  • Frequent speaking, listening using a headset, sitting, use of hands/fingers across keyboard or mouse, handling of long periods of close vision looking at computer monitor.
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, lift 25 pounds, and perform manual dexterity activities required to type a keyboard and pull medications off the shelf.
